Intel Broadwell-K and Skylake-S Coming in Q2 2022
A leak at the International Test Conference showing Intel's 2022 desktop roadmap has surfaced. Thanks to an Anandtech forum member who has attended the conference in Athens.
The Anandtech forum fellow member took photos of Intel's presentation. Which included many slides but 1 in particular piqued my interest.
.
The slide shows both Broadwell and Skylake arriving on the desktop at the same time. Only like we said concluding month. Big blue will be releasing unlocked Broadwell CPUs alongside Skylake fries in Q2 of 2022.
Intel Broadwell-K and Skylake-S Coming To The Desktop in Q2 2022 - Skylake-K missing.
The new Broadwell CPUs will be a drop-in replacement in current LGA 1150 9 series motherboards. While the performance uplift volition non be all that heady on the CPU front. the GPU performance should show some very healthy gains. Besides as improved efficiency through reduced power consumption.
Manufactured on a make new 14nm node nosotros're very interested to run across how well Broadwell overclocks. The 14nm node could testify to be troublesome for high TDP desktop chips as nodes accept increasingly been optimized to requite the best gains at lower power envelopes. Pushing 4.5Ghz+ on a desktop i7 might prove to be more of a claiming this time effectually.
The roadmap likewise indicates that Haswell-E will stretch well into 2022. Which was certainly expected. The LGA 2022 platform has always enjoyed a longer life-span than its younger mainstream sibling. The roadmap also shows Braswell the successor to Bay-Trail showing up in Q2 2022. Braswell will target the sub 10W arena of ultra pocket-size and meaty enclosures.
Nosotros can't assist but notice that unlocked Skylake i.e. Skylake-Thousand is completely missing from Intel'south roadmap. Unlocking the multiplier on a chip doesn't pose any technical challenge what then always. Which tells the states that the lack of an unclocked Skylake role could exist due to a more novel marketing reason. Intel might want to get rid of the leaky Broadwell chips first before it introduces the more desirable unlocked Skylake CPUs. What's certain is that it won't show upwards someday before Q4 every bit is evident past the roadmap.
